About This Project
Hero’s Legacy Camp is a therapy camp for children of soldiers who died fighting for Ukraine’s freedom. The camp gives kids space to grieve, tools to cope with their new reality, and a community that understands them. Oleksandra, 15, told us the camp was a place where “there’s no war, no air-raid sirens, no rockets falling.” It was a place where she could reclaim a piece of childhood that war took away.
We hosted our first camp in June 2023 for 20 children thanks to a generous partnership with 11 bit studios, a video game development studio in Poland. After seeing the collective healing, we knew we wanted to make the camp a regular program.
Our goal for 2024 is to host three camps for 20 children each. The cost of sending a child to the week-long camp is $1,758, including all therapy costs, accommodations, meals, and transportation.
